About the Role
Uber Delivery is at a pivotal point and is expanding beyond its restaurant business into retail, grocery, and new vertical businesses. The Shopping Store team's mission is to "Craft a Store experience that enables any merchant to uniquely and optimally captivate prospective buyers."
We own the in-store consumer experience end to end on all of our three client platforms (iOS, Android, and Web), which serve millions of customers globally everyday. We are responsible for the backend systems to retrieve, serve, and display restaurant menus or store catalog data from all merchants. We have the opportunity to evolve and scale both the backend and the UI/UX to best serve our growing non-restaurants businesses.
What You Will Do

  • Lead, manage and grow a team of customer-focused software engineers.
  • Define and execute on an ambitious product roadmap.
  • Lay out the technical vision for your area.
  • Own the craftsmanship, reliability, and scalability of your solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, Design, and other partners.
  • Hire top performing engineering talent and maintain our dedication to diversity and inclusion.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience managing a diverse set of candidates (full-stack, backend, mobile, web), across various technologies.
  • 6+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Outstanding technical skills in backend or mobile engineering: Uber managers are expected to lead from the front when the situation calls for it.
  • Great management and team development skills: ability to set roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate intelligently, mentor engineers, deliver frequent and transparent feedback, help team members grow in their careers and deliver results.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A track record of delivering results in fast-paced and highly ambiguous environments.
  • Be able to work cross-functionally with many other roles and partners within the company.
  • Full-stack development experience.
