We are looking for an exceptional engineering leader for our Simulations team under AI@Unity, based in our Bellevue office.

We are AI@Unity. We drive the use of AI for Unity customers via targeted products and services. We partner with product teams throughout Unity to personalize experiences, build developer tools powered by ML, and drive better business decisions through predictive analytics, at scale. The Simulations team in particular, is a greenfield effort focused on building a massively scaled distributed system that runs millions of Unity instances in parallel. The applications are many and varied, to enable large scale simulations for gameplay and autonomous vehicles, to improve our recommendations via experimentation and to enable services such as visual search and similarities. All of our work empowers our customers to do in hours what previously took days to weeks.

You are an engineering manager with a strong distributed systems and software-as-a-service (SaaS) background, and a proven ability to deliver innovative, reliable products that ship on time with great quality. You have experience managing teams of 6-12 exceptional engineers in a rapidly growing and innovative environment. You care about building and growing a well-knit team that takes pride in delivering great software. Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and develop innovative products in partnership with our Product Management team
• Build, coach, and mentor a world class engineering team
• Design, launch, and operate robust SaaS products that provide best in class availability and performance
• Set and achieve goals that stretch what’s possible via the Simulations service
• Work closely with customers inside and outside Unity to enable maximum customer benefit from Simulations

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, distributed systems
• Professional software engineering experience in Java, C++, C#, python or similar languages
• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager building multiple large scale production SaaS products
• Experience with building performant, robust, large scale distributed systems
• Experience with at least one and ideally multiple public cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure
• Experience in fostering a strong data-driven engineering culture in an agile environment

Bonus points

• Experience with different service frameworks
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
• Significant contributions to open source software
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Math or Statistics, Physics, or related area, with a focus on or related to Machine Learning
• Published research in areas of Machine Learning at major conference(s) and/or journal(s)
• Experience with Unity Engine, 3D simulators, game development and graphics
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the company
