Role Description

This position reports directly to our Head of Reliability Engineering, and will work closely with engineering leadership to build out SRE as a coordinated function and company-wide organization. As such, in addition to owning a significant scope in its own right, this role will have an outsized influence on the development of our SRE culture, processes, and engagement model.

The SRE team has major impact inside of Dropbox engineering through optimizing web services and building our in-house multi-exabyte storage system, Magic Pocket. Check out the Dropbox Tech Blog to learn more!

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for growing and developing an incredible team of hardworking and motivated engineers with high expectations around individual ownership and impact
  • You will develop and further a balanced and collaborative culture for the Reliability organization that embodies both industry best practices and Dropbox's values
  • You will ensure your team delivers extraordinary output, and continuously seeks ways to make an outsized impact
  • You will set direction for the team, anticipating strategic and scaling-related challenges via thoughtful long-term planning

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience
  • Management experience leading a Site Reliability/Production Engineering team for multiple years
  • Experience in internet-scale user-path systems
  • Experience in running services where durability is as important as availability is preferred

In order to be successful in our Virtual First environment we needed to make changes that would allow employees to have more control over both where and how they work.
