Product Team

The Product Team is responsible for all the products Subsplash develops and delivers, including the App Platform and Merchant Services offerings. We are a team of designers, developers, and product management professionals, creating polished and compelling experiences for our clients and end users. The Product Team is responsible for the entire user experience including: End-User Mobile Apps, the Subsplash Dashboard (our Content Management System), Subsplash Wallet (our Donation and Merchant Services Platform), the Web App, backend media & data feeds, format conversion services, analytics, and more. The Product Team’s mission is to delight our clients by helping them engage their communities and deliver beautiful, high-impact content, so they can fuel their mission & expand their reach.

About the Role

As a Front-End Engineer, you will report to the Software Development Manager. In this role, you will be involved in building out new products and features, as well as maintaining existing code bases by completing bug fixes and feature requests. You will be working closely with both designers and developers and helping to bridge the gap between the two. You will contribute to the creative process by building elegant solutions to complex problems. You will work well with other members of the team, in a fast-paced environment, to implement working software early and often.   1. Develop a deep understanding of our front-end architecture and products.
  2. Make contributions to our internal UI component library.
  3. Take on the front-end aspects of projects and ship it to production.
  4. Own and ship at least one significant feature to production.

Your Priorities

  • Implement new features and fix bugs by writing scalable and maintainable code
  • Follow the pre-established and assist in defining HTML, CSS and Javascript development patterns and standards for the team
  • Maintain and build-upon our internal component library
  • Maintain great communication between our web developers and designers to help bridge the gap between backend implementation and visual excellence
  • Collaborate regularly with a small team of designers, developers, and project managers to grow the capabilities of the Subsplash Platform

Qualifications

  • 0–3+ years of full time web design/programming experience in a group/team environment
  • Embraces the Agile process (knowledge of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, LEAN, and SOLID a plus)
  • Familiar with good front-end engineering principles such as: BEM, graceful degradation, DRY, SOLID, etc.
  • Comfortable with HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Familiar with server-side web technologies such as Unix/Linux, PHP, MySQL, MongoDB, MVC Frameworks (Rails, Li3, etc.), Apache.
  • Familiar with common tools and libraries such as SASS/LESS, Babel, jQuery, etc.
  • Experience in building responsive user interfaces.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US
  • B.S. in Computer Science or B.A. in Design (a plus)
  • Experience with
    • client-side Javascript frameworks such as React, Ember, Angular, etc.
    • developing codebases using Git or SVN.
    • design programs such as Sketch, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, etc.
    • RESTful API design, and web best practices

This position is classified as Full-time/Exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay.
