System1 is looking for a front-end engineer to work on MapQuest’s core platform. You will design, build, operate, debug, optimize, and deploy highly-distributed and low-latency web-based systems as part of a growing team of talented engineers.


MapQuest is a first-in-class navigation engine which is ranked #3 among all mapping engines. The product saw revenue growth by more than 1.5x in 2020 and 2021 and we continue to grow our team. The Role You Will Have

  • Write and style React components that integrate with backend APIs
  • Own tasks end to end, taking projects through the full engineering lifecycle
  • Collaborate and problem solve with engineers and stakeholders
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy and lightweight planning processes

What You Will Bring

  • The ability to deliver high quality features using React, SASS, and ESNext
  • A desire to grow in your career beyond frontend development
  • Able to adhere to best practices and coding conventions
  • Familiarity with agile development practices
  • Experience working with git version control in a collaborative team environment, creating pull requests, and performing code reviews
  • Excellent communication and time management skills

He was able to balance his work at System1 with assignments and studying, and now, he’s implementing what he learned on the job. Currently, he and the data science team are working on an algorithm to optimize System1’s advertising on a new network. Their custom-built machine learning infrastructure makes it easy to deploy new algorithms and track performance.
