Gemma seeks an entrepreneurial software engineer who will be the first technical hire and report directly to the CEO and founder. You will have the opportunity to develop and maintain an early stage product, and to have responsibility for the backend infrastructure of an eCommerce technology stack. You will work with the product and marketing teams to write and maintain API integrations with the supply chain and fulfillment channels. You’ll have the opportunity to work under the guidance of Senior Engineers at Pioneer Square Labs Studios while Gemma’s own technical team is built around you.

Description

Our ideal customer-centric candidate will have an established background in developing technical products by showcasing previous or current experience in eCommerce/Web Services development platforms. You will own the customer-facing online storefront on Shopify. You will be able to work independently and be motivated to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. You will add value to the process to understand the needs of the business and translate them into best-of-class technology solutions to meet the needs of our customers.

As a software engineer on the Gemma team you'll...

• Maintain initial version of Shopify Site and custom front-end components
• Work with business, development, design, and fulfillment teams to understand and influence product vision and requirements
• Understand how all elements of the software lifecycle work together and develop quality engineering approaches to define the overall architecture
• Create integrations with various 3rd-party APIs and software solutions (analytics, shipping, sales tax calculation, credit card processing, etc..)
• Design test strategies and create appropriate test harnesses, data, and tools that increase the speed of sprint cycles and allow for constant high quality results
• Execute project plans and delivery commitments
• Cultivate sense of customer empathy to continue building an exceptional product
• Work with marketers on conversion funnel and follow up customer interactions

This job might be for you if you have...

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
• 4+ years of relevant software engineering experience
• Problem solving aptitude
• Experience with devops including AWS, test frameworks, and source code management
• Shopify or eCommerce platform experience is a plus
• 2+ years React experience
