Pivotal Commware develops 5G communications platforms, systems and applications based on Holographic Beam Forming® , a patented breakthrough in electromagnetic physics. HBF allows Pivotal to create software-defined antennas that can harness, shape and direct radio waves with order-of magnitude advantages over legacy beamforming systems in cost, size, weight and power consumption (C-SWaP). We are seeking a Hardware Development Manager who will be a hands-on player/coach. As the Hardware Development Manager at Pivotal, you will be responsible for the development of Pivotal’s product platforms as well as support for research and development activities. You will manage embedded hardware engineers, electrical engineers, and PCB design engineers. This position will work closely with other engineering teams at Pivotal, including embedded software, RF and systems, and test. You will lead a dynamic team designing the electrical systems, through to a PCB level, for boards including RF, antenna, high-speed digital, and other systems. This position reports to the VP of Engineering.

 

Responsibilities:

 

•Lead a world-class hardware design team

•Provide day-to-day technical guidance and direction of engineers to ensure the team is operating effectively

•Lead architecture decisions and development for embedded hardware solutions

•Drive schematic and PCB simulation and design including design reviews

•Document requirements and work alongside verification and test engineers to help bring-up and validation of new hardware systems

•Work with engineers in functional areas across Pivotal, including mechanical; RF; systems; test; embedded software; and manufacturing to deliver products from conception through mass production

•Provide technical leadership through engaging with executive team to guide and influence strategic decision-making

Required Qualifications:

 

•BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar

•10+ years of experience in hardware or electrical engineering, and 5+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role

•Knowledge of circuit layout and simulation tools such as Altium

•Experience with product development across the full life-cycle, from definition through verification and production

•Strong communication and interpersonal skills both within and outside the organization

•This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

 

Desirable Expertise:

 

•Experience working with offshore partners for design and/or manufacturing

•Product development experience in telecommunications, wireless, or networking equipment
