Role Description

Have you been to a coding bootcamp, and are you looking to get exposure to the tech industry? Have you developed programming skills at a previous job and are now looking to transition to a career in software engineering? Dropbox IGNITE is an apprenticeship program geared towards professionals with non-traditional software engineering backgrounds who are looking to start or re-start their professional career.

We’re looking for candidates with excitement for the job, tenacity, and the dedication to learn and improve. Dropbox IGNITE aims to provide you with a six month immersive engineering experience. As a member of one of our Software Engineering, Mobile Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams, you will learn the skills needed to transition into the tech industry alongside a cohort of fellow apprentices.

During the apprenticeship, you will be paired with a dedicated mentor committed to guiding you through the program. You can also expect to collaborate with full-time engineers and receive consistent and constructive feedback. Our goal is to curate a robust learning experience, build your professional network, and bring your engineering skills to Dropbox!

Timeline

Applications will close on January 23, 2022 at 11:59pm PST
Qualified applicants will receive an invitation to participate in an online Dropbox Coding Exercise within one week of applying
All applicants will receive a decision on their candidacy in March 2022
Apprenticeship begins on Tuesday, April 12, 2022

Requirements

Non-traditional Computer Science schooling/training (coding bootcamp grads, self-taught coders, veterans, those making a career shift)
No previous software engineering internship or full-time experience
Full-time availability from April 2022 - August 2022 to complete the IGNITE Apprenticeship Program remotely (5 month paid apprentice program)
Available to start full-time employment in August 2022 should you be extended a full-time offer upon completion of the program

In order to be successful in our Virtual First environment we needed to make changes that would allow employees to have more control over both where and how they work. Therefore, we embrace “non-linear workdays” with defined core collaboration hours that overlap across time zones. Beyond that, we encourage employees to design their own schedules to balance collaboration with needs for individual focus. We’ve also moved from “all day syncs” to an “async by default” culture, reserving meetings for discussion, debate, and decision-making, and handling all other work in our deep focus hours.
