What We’re Looking For:
NetMotion Software is looking for a Lab & Network Engineering Manager to join our Seattle office team! This position is responsible for overseeing our development team’s lab and network environment. This team member will lead and manage the implementation of key Engineering Lab strategic projects and day-to-day operational requirements within multiple scrum teams, particularly focused on compliance and support. You will be collaborating with all levels of leadership across the company to implement and communicate processes and structures. You will be expected to work on multiple projects effectively and simultaneously with diverse groups and internal customers.

In addition to managing the Lab and Network Engineering team, this position is a hands-on technical position.  Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Develop processes to track test environments required for Development
  • Create short-term plans to deliver environments to support sprint-based development
  • Oversee annual lab budget; oversees selection, procurement, calibration and maintenance of lab and test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
  • Manage lab and network engineering technicians and supports engineering staff in test set-up, tear-down, test networks, and facility maintenance
  • Coordinate activities of release engineers to automate the setup and configuration of test environments
  • Monitor and guarantee uptime of test environments
  • Provide ongoing support for test environments
  • Provide equipment and operational support for offsite testing
  • Establish and maintain robust lines of internal communication with engineering staff for test coordination, schedule, equipment needs, and general program support
  • Lab Operating Procedure Management; Implementation and compliance while providing direction for lab engineers on established policies.
  • Develop KPIs to track efficacy of test environment delivery efforts
  • Lead audit/assessment preparation and support while assuring alignment with policies and documentation.
  • Assist in developing long-range objectives and strategic plans for the functional department and alignment to include program goals as they impact engineering labs.
  • Provide estimates for onboarding of new projects to test environments
  • Design systems to support continuous delivery and adapt test environment management to support on-demand, self-service automation
  • Forecast environment requirements based on anticipated future demand from multiple application development
  • Responsible for administration of security guidelines in the safeguarding of classified/proprietary material, hardware, and documentation.
  • Work alongside NetMotion Software’s IT department to implement best practices and security posturing.
  • Build positive relationships with internal customers throughout the company

 

Your Skills:
As our Lab & Network Engineering Manager, you are creative, innovative, and have high situational awareness. You take ownership and continually focus on improving processes and efficiency. You have experience successfully operating in a challenging and fast-paced team environment. You are also able to operate in a large, high volume environment while still effectively communicating with the team and others in the company.

  • 5+ years of experience in a management role in IT systems, network engineer, lab manager, data center manager or related role.
  • BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to communicate with stakeholders: project management, QA, and engineering management
  • Ablility to focus on scheduling accuracy with the ability to keep a constantly shifting test environment calendar up to date
  • Ability to estimate work effort required to bring test environments to readiness
  • Effective organization and communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills, including willingness to make decisions and embrace change
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security technologies
  • Thorough knowledge of IP networking essentials including subnets and VLANs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Windows servers and operating systems including experience with Microsoft Server 2012r2 to 2020, and Linux
  • Experience managing and tracking a high volume of requests through ticketing systems
  • Experience in customer service and/or policy and compliance implementation
  • Expert with network topologies and their setup
  • Experience with VMware ESXi, Fortinet, routing, Vlans, custom topologies, Cisco ASA, IPv6, VPN, Storage Management such as HP Lefthand SAN, Netapp SAN, iSCSI, capacity, and performance

Additional consideration given to candidates with one or more of the following:

  • CCNA, MCSE, or MCITP
  • Experience with Cisco and HP network equipment
