Shiftboard is looking for a highly motivated lead back-end software developer to become an integral part our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to have a significant and immediate impact on the direction of engineering at Shiftboard, but also to be strategically involved in longer-range planning that will shape how the engineering team as a whole supports the company’s initiatives.

Shiftboard’s back-end systems support our SaaS platform for shift-based workforce scheduling and management, as well as an internal/external API and, integrations to other services that extend our capabilities. These services range from IVR platforms, to payroll systems, to custom volunteer management systems.

You would be responsible for enhancing our product by adding new features and services and providing APIs that will be used by our front-end and mobile developers, as well as directly by our customers and integration partners. Along with recommending and implementing the technology to achieve our product goals, you would lead complex projects involving multiple developers in one or more areas of our product, ensuring code follows best-practices, is efficient, scalable, maintainable, robust and easy to understand.

We are a multi-language shop that strives to use the right tools for the job at hand. We are in the midst of transitioning away from a legacy on-premise Perl/MySQL code-base, towards a modern AWS-based service-oriented architecture written with Node.js, PostgreSQL and other, not yet chosen, languages and technologies. We eagerly await your input into these key decisions.

  • Passion for evaluating new tech & determining potential benefits and applications
  • Proficient in SQL as well as NoSQL alternatives
