About the Role

Highspot is seeking a lead developer for our Mobile Applications team. This role is ideal for an experienced mobile application developer looking to take immediate ownership of our mobile codebase and gradually bring their leadership skills to bear as a team lead and mentor we augment mobile developer staff to keep pace with Highspot’s phenomenal growth.

Highspot’s Mobile Applications team is responsible for design, implementation, testing, shipping, and support of features for our highly-rated iOS, Android, and Microsoft (Surface tablet) apps. Working closely with product management, UX designers, and backend and frontend engineers, Mobile Applications developers build full-featured mobile apps that sales reps love to use. Our mobile apps deliver rich content, including our industry-leading SmartPage and Pitch technologies, and they support online and offline workflows empowering our customers to use Highspot everywhere.

What You’ll Do

  • Function as the lead developer for all mobile applications with primary focus on Android and iOS development.
  • Work with a growing team of experienced developers to ensure Highspot applications are operable, scalable, and deliver the highest quality experience to our customers.
  • Partner with product designers and product managers to develop and execute against a devices roadmap.
  • Thoroughly test apps across all types of devices to ensure customer delight and to maintain our consistently-high ratings across all app marketplaces. 
  • Use Visual Studio for both Mac and Windows, C#, Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android, UWP, and PowerShell to build and release apps.
  • Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of the engineers on the mobile applications team.
  • Drive the evaluation and selection/implementation of new technology and architecture that will improve mobile application performance, support features in high-demand by customers, further differentiate Highspot from our competition, and keep pace with the changing world of mobile application development.
  • Facilitate regular team stand-ups, resource planning, and code reviews.
  • Participate in cross-functional planning and reviews with key stakeholders.

Your Background

  • You're an expert at iOS and Android development, testing, and release engineering. You bring a wealth of knowledge and experience across both platforms, and you’re well-versed in both the Apple and open-source Android ecosystems.
  • You’re willing to ramp up on app development for Microsoft tablet devices.
  • You’ve built apps that work reliably across various software versions and a variety of hardware and screen sizes. 
  • You understand UI design principles, patterns, and best practices for phones and tablets, including general principles plus Google- and Apple-specific best practices.
  • You’re comfortable working with hybrid apps that leverage native functionality, javascript interoperability, web views, and push notifications. 
  • You have great interpersonal communication skills and work well in a diverse, team-focused environment.
  • You're driven by empathy to support, learn, and guide the team to be successful.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect mobile applications to back-end services.
  • Familiarity with Xamarin, Swift, Objective-C, Java, and Kotlin.
  • Love for testing, benchmarking, and optimizing application performance.
  • Experience localizing mobile apps is a huge plus as we’re expanding globally and delivering Highspot in different languages.
  • Previous experience as a team lead or engineering manager.

Location

Our HQ is located within walking distance of Pike Place Market and the Seattle Piers. With amazing 360 views of the Puget Sound and Downtown Seattle. The only downside, there are almost too many places to pick for your lunch meetings.
