Ad Lightning is hiring a Lead Security Engineer to join one of the first startups out of Pioneer Square Labs. We’re on a mission to improve ad quality across the digital advertising ecosystem. What you'll be doing:

Apply your skills as a Security Engineer to reverse engineer new threats entering the programmatic ad space and work across our teams to implement solutions to stop their spread. As a key member of our product team, you will oversee the output from our malware detection services, analyze the data to identify suspicious activity, and drive system enhancements that improve our ability to detect and block these threats.

Responsibilities include:

• Working with our Product and Engineering teams to architect our system for threat detection, resolution and monitoring

  • Detection Includes understanding the tactics, techniques & procedures of the attacks and then creating the identifiers that map back to the malicious behavior

  • Resolution entails continuously improving our ability to block active threats

  • Monitoring involves optimizing our system so that that our clients are protected while minimizing false positives/negatives

• Reverse engineering of malvertising and/or traditional software components to drive vulnerability and exploitation analysis.

• Provide detailed reports on the methods used to infect as well as operate

• Lead projects from start-to-finish, prioritizing time and effectively collaborating with both technical and non-technical audiences.

What you'll need to succeed:

We are looking for high performers who can get things done in a fast moving, high-intensity start-up environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field

• Foundational skills: Knowledge of Encryption and hashing algorithms (MD5, SHA-1, etc.); Programming and Scripting languages (primarily JavaScript, with knowledge of C, C++, Python, Java, etc. being an added bonus); understanding of browser systems (Chrome, Safari, FF, etc), and understanding of malware behaviors and how they exploit these systems

• Strong ability to prioritize and execute with minimal direction or oversight

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with both sales and technical roles.

• Background in Machine Learning

• Some experience with reverse engineering/deobfuscating Javascript
