What you get to do in this role:

The ServiceNow Service Engineering team is responsible for all aspects of Cloud Infrastructure through zero touch automation. We are looking for a leader to take us to the next level of Cloud infra scale, performance and reliability through innovations and automations. This is a very strategic position for our company.  As a Manager in ServiceNow’s Service Engineering group you will be in a position to hire the best team possible, lead cloud infra innovation, influence product direction, define architecture and ensure quality of product.

As a Manager, SDE, you will be responsible for building and leading a team of engineers in the design and development of next generation of cloud infra platform and automations. You will lead by example on solving tough technical challenges and complex business problems in a high energy, startup-like environment with experienced industry leaders and with a highly collaborative team.

This role will require you to interface with various internal departments, understand their business needs and deliver highly reliable and easy to use solutions that enhance business efficiency. The successful candidate will have an established background in developing mission-critical software solutions, a strong technical ability, excellent project management and communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.  

In order to be successful in this role, we need someone who has:

  • Responsible for the overall software development lifecycle.
  • Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of the engineering teams within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Management of resources, staffing, mentoring and leading a best-of-class engineering team.
  • Ability to drive roadmap, work across organizational boundaries and exercise appropriate influence to ensure commitment to customers and product quality
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging skills and an aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Experience developing scalable and distributed systems with either Java/C++/C# and experience with a scripting language JavaScript/Python/Ruby/PHP/ Perl in a UNIX or Windows environment 
  • Proficiency in web technologies such as HTTP, REST/SOAP, AJAX
  • Experience with Python, with emphasis on writing modular, scalable server-side components, knowledge of web development frameworks such as Django or Flask
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
  • BS or M.S in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5+ yrs’ experience managing software development teams delivering high-quality enterprise software

Desirable

  • Experience with cloud platforms like Amazon, OpenStack, Azure
  • Experience with ServiceNow Platform
  • Experience working with a continuous integration continuous deployment environment
  • Experience with enterprise level infrastructure management, specifically within the contexts of Datacenter Operations, Network Engineering, and/or procurement / asset lifecycle management
