If you have a results-oriented attitude, are deeply technical and analytical, and long for the opportunity to build solutions to problems that directly impact the company's bottom-line, we want to talk to you! We are searching for a Software Development Manager who will drive key deliveries from conception all the way through requirements definition, analysis, technical specifications, development and delivery. You will be a hands-on manager and set the technical direction for your team, mentor people you lead and collaborate with various business partners.

What you'll do:

  • Lead/manage a team of engineers building distributed systems that improve our ability to detect risky activity and security vulnerabilities on Expedia Group's websites

  • Review and provide guidance on the team's work, continuously seeking to look for opportunities for process improvement

  • Learn about the people on your team and their career aspirations, so that you can enable them to succeed

  • Be a forward-thinking individual who is constantly looking at opportunities to innovate while solving tough business problems

  • Work on initiatives that go beyond team and org boundaries

  • Be responsible for your team's deliveries, roadmap and operations, set standards and lead by example

Who you are:

  • Excellent knowledge of Java, Spring, Rest APIs, SQL and No-SQL DBs

  • Strong background in Cloud computing, such as the AWS stack

  • Experience with message queuing (e.g. RabbitMQ, SQS) and data streaming (e.g. Kinesis)

  • Scrum master experience, and/or experience leading agile teams

  • Passionate about code and large scale system design

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, or related subject area
