Liberty Mutual Global Digital Services/ Application Environments/ Delivery Solutions is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join a team that is focused on delivering next generation solutions to application teams utilizing AI and ML Technologies. Responsibilities
Performs the following moderately complex to complex activities:

  • Develops effective, defect free source code that meets business requirements and team standards
  • Utilizes and is a champion for best practices (unit/ system/ integration/regression testing, component design principles, support documentation, iterative development, etc.)
  • Interacts with customers and development team to gather and define requirements
  • Contributes to technical alternatives in collaboration with other technical leaders
  • Performs Quality Assurance coding and design reviews
  • Analyzes user stories for validity and feasibility
  • Mentor new developers and junior developers
  • Identify and recommend appropriate continuous improvement opportunities


Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Generally, 8+ years of professional experience.
  • Solid programming discipline: unit testing, fault tolerance, data structures, complexity analysis, object-oriented principles, design patterns, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies and technical standards, security, and privacy policies.
  • Demonstrates leadership and displays and active pursuit of optimizing CI/CD process and tools, testing frameworks/ practices, and are familiar with version control.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills.
  • Proficient in negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills.
  • Openness and adaptability to respond to fast-moving circumstances.
  • Extensive understanding of agile software development concepts and processes.
  • Strong collaboration, team first mentality, prioritization, and adaptability skills required
  • Must be proactive, demonstrate initiative and be a logical thinker.
  • Consultative skills, including the ability to understand and apply customer requirements, including drawing out unforeseen implications and making recommendations for design, the ability to define design reasoning, understanding potential impacts of design requirements.
  • Knowledge of layered systems architectures and layered solutions and designs; understanding of shared software concepts.
  • Passion for new and emerging technologies.
  • Python, Java, or other OOP language experience
  • Experience with AWS Cloud services.
  • Familiar with API development and usage.
  • Strong understand of the following: IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies. Business function(s) and of business operations.
