We are looking for an exceptional Principal Software Engineer to join the Unity Simulation team, a new team under AI@Unity. (Read more here: https://unity.com/simulation.) This is an opportunity to become one of the driving members that will define a new standard for how AI systems are trained, tested, and validated. We’re looking for engineers who are entrepreneurial, adaptable and enjoy challenging the status quo.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical lead on our most demanding, cross-functional projects.
• Actively designing core components and writing code.
• Ensure the quality of architecture and design of systems.
• Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
• Fully and completely understand system interdependencies and limitations.
• Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.
• Contribute intellectual property through patents.
• Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members.
• Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.
• Working effectively with Product Management and across organization to identify and disambiguate new opportunities.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering
• Solid skills in a high level language like C#, C++, Java or Go
• Experience working with public cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience with large scale distributed systems
• Experience creating new services and scaling into production settings

Bonus points

• MS or PhD in Computer Science or Software Engineering
• Deep knowledge of the cloud-native ecosystem
• Working knowledge of Unity
• Deep expertise in Docker and Kubernetes
