About the Team

The Product Development Team is responsible for all the products that Subsplash offers. We are a super-star team of designers, developers, PM’s and QA professionals creating polished experiences for our clients and end-users. The Product Development Team is responsible for the entire user experience including: Mobile Apps (end-user facing), Subsplash Giving, the Subsplash Dashboard CMS (client-facing), Web App, TV App, backend data feeds, analytics, and more. We serve thousands of clients, millions of end-users, and billions of individual app impressions. And with unlimited smoothie supplies, we know how to craft a mean smoothie.

About the Role

As the QA and Release Manager, you will report to the Director of Engineering, and you will be responsible for a team of Quality Assurance and Release Engineers. In this role, you will be involved in building out testing and release pipelines that allow us to effectively practice Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery. You will work directly within the team to solve challenging problems around running automation of test suites, build jobs, and app distribution at a scale that is extremely rare. You will contribute to the creative process by helping to solve problems, especially ones that relate to growing people; this will include, challenging them to advance in their careers, grow in their knowledge, and increase their passion for our work! You will lead a team in a fast-paced environment, to implement working software early and often.

Your Priorities

  • Lead a team of QA and Release Engineers that deliver world-class solutions by
    • Fostering growth of existing team members
    • Establishing and championing industry best practices for Agile software development
    • Provide clear technical communication to team members regarding assignments
    • Provide oversight regarding system design, software standards, implementation, and code review processes
  • Recruit for your team
  • Work with the leadership team to accomplish the major goals of Subsplash
  • Work with PMs and POs to ensure clear exit criteria for assignments, user stories and epics
  • Hold the balance between providing scalable and maintainable software solutions while also accomplishing the business needs and working within budget, resource and time constraints
  • Use Agile practices to work and think iteratively through software development
  • Collaborate regularly with designers to ensure we are delivering delight to the users of our products
  • Guide, mentor, and develop your team members, and look for opportunities to participate in and positively influence the development community in Seattle and beyond.

Knowledge And Skills

  • 6+ years experience developing test suites and/or build pipelines for server-side, client-side or mobile apps
  • 2+ years managing a team
  • Comfort writing scripts in at least one of the following languages: Go, elixir, python, bash
  • Expertise and recent hands-on experience in at least one of the following development areas: native mobile technologies (Android, iOS), server-side technologies (REST API design, distributed systems, etc...), client-side technologies (PWA, HTML5, CSS3, JS/Ajax/JSON, single-page JS applications i.e. Ember.js/Angular.js), QA test
  • Master and proponent of Agile development methodology, processes and standards
  • Experience building out and managing large scale automated test suites
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, Bamboo)
