Role Description
As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will empower your partner Engineering team(s) at Dropbox to maintain a high level of quality in our products with a large amount of scope and impact within your role. Our approach to QA Engineering involves a small, highly talented and leveraged team that focuses on executing a risk-based approach to managing quality for mission critical/highly visible Dropbox product releases, while working in an embedded manner with product development teams. Your QA expertise will inform manual testing, quality strategies, risk mitigation, quality metrics, end-to-end and integration testing, process improvements, and automation strategy.
Responsibilities
- Hands-on delivery of quality practices based on industry standards, that include:
- Identification, mitigation, and communication of risks with key stakeholders
- Quality strategy development and execution
- Provide the right level of test expertise needed (e.g., test plan authoring/support, bug bash support, manual test case execution, technical architecture deep dive, quality education)
- Product quality metrics development and reporting
- Automation strategy advocacy
- Partner with engineering to triage internal/external bug reports and reproduce reported issues
- Identify quality gaps/opportunities and develop proactive solutions to address them yourself or by leading/supporting team members and cross-functional stakeholders
- Develop relationships with counterparts on partner teams to align on integration efforts and dependencies
Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience
- 6+ years industry experience in Quality Assurance; 10+ years preferred
- Expertise in manual testing across multiple platforms and testing techniques
- Proven technical expertise, such as via programming experience or academic coursework in Computer Science
- Strong QA project/technical leadership experience + working across multiple teams
- Dedication to quality and process improvement with a positive, collaborative attitude and approach to testing
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, low-structure, constantly changing atmosphere and prioritizing work appropriately
