Role Description

Our approach to Quality Assurance Engineering involves a small, highly talented and leveraged team that focuses on executing a risk-based approach to managing quality for mission critical/highly visible Dropbox product releases. As a QAE expert in manual testing,  you will ensure that Dropbox software is high-quality through effective hands-on execution of technical risk mitigation/management strategies,  creating and executing quality strategies (including test plan and test case creation/execution), partnering closely with developers to create automation test strategies, and will develop and closely monitor quality metrics. This position will also take on Technical Lead responsibilities, which involves effective management of area-level technical direction used by team members to ensure a quality software delivery. This is accomplished through your hands-on support, mentorship, and efficient strategy development, grounded in data backed quality practices. 

Responsibilities

  • Identify quality gaps/opportunities and develop proactive technical solutions to mitigate/fill the gaps individually and/or by leading/supporting quality team members and cross-functional stakeholders. 
  • Hands on delivery of quality practices based on industry standards, that includes:
    • Discovery, analyze, and communication of technical risks, root cause, and mitigation/prevention strategies to engineering leadership, stakeholders, and fellow QAE’s. 
    • Technical quality strategy development and execution
    • Automation strategy development
    • Quality metrics discovery and reporting
    • Manual test case execution
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert on software quality management for your EPD Team/Area/Group
  • Maintain effective partnerships with Development, Product, Design, and CX stakeholders, in service of actively contributing to the overall technical architecture design and how features are implemented and released.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience
  • 5+ years industry experience in Quality Assurance; 10+ years preferred
  • Expertise in manual testing across multiple platforms and testing techniques
  • Proven technical expertise, such as via programming experience or academic coursework in Computer Science
  • Dedication to quality and process improvement with a positive, collaborative attitude and approach to testing
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, low-structure, constantly changing atmosphere and prioritizing work appropriately
  • Strong QA project leadership experience
