RF Test Lab Manager

Pivotal’s Holographic Beamforming Antenna system is a customizable product solution that can interface with a wide variety of external products and as such, the RF Test Lab Manager will be responsible for taking products from engineering and testing them until they are ready to be handed over to production and manufacturing. This position will be responsible for overseeing near-field anechoic chamber RF testing, far-field testing including cell on wheels testing as well as hardware validation testing. This position will also be responsible for maintaining the operational integrity of the Lab, it’s components and equipment for the designing, developing and implementing of antenna systems prototypes. The RF Test Lab Manager position will work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment working closely with a small group of scientists, engineers and business leaders. This position reports to the CTO.
•Manage small teams responsible for manual and automated tests of hardware validation, antenna test, and Lab operations including owning resource and project timeline and budget
•Interface with product development to take products and create master test plans while developing an ongoing test methodology for the future in each area needed for verifying prototypes before they move into production
•Take direction from R&D on tests and setups that are needed
•Assist test engineering and make observations and recommendations as needed
• Design, implement, operate and analyze test systems including calibration, automation of test apparatus, data acquisition and data reduction
•Oversee test components, circuits and antennas in several frequency ranges from UHF to E-band
•Establish collect, organize, implement and maintain inventory system
•Forward thinking solutions to problems or bottlenecks that arise
•Oversee and advance automating test infrastructure using Python
•Develop and oversee a process to track and fix failures, keep clear records of relevant results, and concisely communicate issues and information to appropriate parties
•Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in EE along with multiple years of experience managing an RF / electronics centric lab, preferably doing prototypes of consumer electronics/wireless products
•Multiple years of experience as a hands-on engineer as well as experience as a leader of hardware and RF test labs
•Desire or experience in design and development of automated test solutions
•Knowledge of RF/Microwave fundamentals required
•Experience leading and or creating automating tests in Python, C, C++ a plus
•Strategic leader capable of demonstrating ability to mentor and lead multiple disparate teams
•Strong communications skills and ability to work seamlessly in fast paced engineering teams
•Experience with RF/Microwave measurements using Power Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generator, Vector Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Power meters

•Basic RF assembly skills
•Skilled in the use and implementation of standard CI software systems
•Early stage company experience and the ability to create scalable reusable processes and procedures
