About the Role

At Highspot, you will join our team of Engineers, Designers, and Marketers tasked with building new features and extending existing features on our Marketing and Community sites (Highspot.com, Highspot Marketplace, Sales Enablement Pro). As a Senior Marketing Web Developer, you will play a key role in driving the future of our online website presence by bringing your skills in solving process and development challenges, and your excitement for delivering great user experiences. As a senior member of our team, you’ll be challenged to continuously look for ways to improve our processes, and will be given ownership and leadership responsibilities across several web development projects. You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor early-in-career engineers and assist with ramping up new team members. We are a product-first company that trusts and empowers engineers to make technical choices that deliver features to our customers while ensuring agility and quality. You will investigate and recommend industry standards, best practices, and new technologies, in conjunction with addressing stakeholder asks, issues, and wishes.

While we don’t expect you to be an expert in all of these technologies, our Marketing Web Development team uses WordPress, PHP, JavaScript, Node.js, React, CSS/SASS, and MySQL as their primary development stack. We also leverage Gulp, Webpack, Babel, Jest, and PHPUnit, and make use of Slack, Jira, Sketch, Invision, Github, and WP Engine.

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll work alongside a cross-functional team comprising Engineers, UX Designers, and Marketing Managers. Together you’ll own all aspects of our marketing sites and work to continuously deliver improvements and new features using agile development practices
  • You’ll push the boundaries of what is possible with WordPress, PHP, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and will be supported in exploring new ideas that can help improve processes and technologies such as performance optimizations, deployment automation, and unit testing
  • You’ll autonomously manage all code and content management for Highspot’s Marketing and Community websites building beautiful responsive web experiences
  • You’ll support the creation and deployment of new marketing automation campaigns using tools like Marketo, Drift, and Google Tag Manager integrated with our websites
  • You’ll manage the marketing sites code deployments, updates, and releases while continuously working to improve and automate processes

Your Background

  • You have 5+ years of professional experience creating dynamic websites with WordPress
  • You’ll bring strong hands-on experience with server-side PHP
  • You’re experienced in converting static design into responsive HTML and CSS, and integrating into a dynamic website via PHP and JS
  • You’re experienced with custom WordPress development including custom WordPress Themes/Plugins, Core/Plugin updates and Headless WordPress
  • You have strong knowledge of WordPress's internal APIs such as WP_Query, Shortcodes, WP REST API, Gutenberg (Block Editor)
  • You’re experienced in automated testing with tools such as Jest and PHPUnit
  • You’re well-versed in Object-oriented Programming principles and can apply them within a PHP project
  • You have experience deploying code to cloud infrastructure and managed WordPress hosts
  • You’re an empathetic and outstanding communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • You’re thoughtful, organized, and disciplined. You take initiative and ownership to see things through to completion and empower others to do the same
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit: you’re agile, creative, resourceful, and tenacious as you solve problems and achieve team and company goals
  • You’re a self-starter, comfortable working in a small team, and excited about joining a high-growth Startup with a fast-paced environment
