Our headquarters in Kent is currently recruiting an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering group and collaborate with team members of corresponding disciplines to design, fabricate, and test prototype systems. This position takes projects from cradle to grave. This person will be able to generate system requirements, work with industrial designers to integrate design elements, perform system design, integrate electronic components, analyze structures and environmental factors, and document design decisions and structural analysis results.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conceptually design mechanical components and systems to support R&D and production manufacturing including industrial design, functional design, material selection, joining requirements, and regulatory compliance
• Estimate cost and lead times of materials, manufacturing, and assembly
• Generate task lists and estimate task durations for project management purposes
• Work closely with production staff to resolve issues found during assembly
• Perform stress and/or thermal analyses to support design, material and joining decisions
• Design, perform, and document physical tests of components/assemblies
• Assemble components as required for R&D projects
• Participate in field tests as required
• Assign part/drawing numbers and create BoMs using in-house MRP system
• Create detail design drawings of components and assemblies
• Conduct, document, implement, and communicate actions resulting from design review meetings with engineers, manufacturing, and management

Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
• 10+ years of related work experience
• Experience in conceptual design of mechanical components and systems for consumer use.
o Equipment maintenance experience is a plus
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency in SolidWorks modeling, assemblies, and drawing creation
• Proficiency in dimensioning and tolerances per ANSI Y14.5
• Experienced in Static, Fatigue, and Stress analysis and hand calculations.
• Design for manufacturability
• Experience with plastic injection molded part design
• Hands on experience with rapid prototyping, machining and sheet metal fabrication
• Creative problem-solving skills

Desired Skills:
• Experience with SolidWorks Simulation (stress and thermal FEA) and SolidWorks ePDM
• Experience integrating electrical and electronic systems into mechanical design
• Experience with antenna implementation
