Our Team
In Digital Evidence Management System team (DEMS), we are solving some of the hardest cloud challenges today. We manage 100+ petabytes of video and other digital evidence from hundreds of thousands of officers around the world.
In today’s world, few cloud based systems are truly isolated from interaction with other systems or services. Axon’s advantage is the ease with which customers can deploy custom solutions and integrate Axon services with other systems they have in place to meet their core needs. Our goal is to expand Axon’s existing platform APIs, enabling richer evidence storage, access and management capabilities for our customers through programmatic API access. We are reimagining what data partnerships and API access means for our customers, and how we can help them address their challenges more rapidly, more efficiently, and at a larger scale than ever before.
Your Impact
As a senior engineer on the API/SDK team, you will be intimately involved in the architecture decisions that will shape partner and customer access to Axon’s evidence data. You live and breathe cloud services that require high availability and fast, consistent performance. You love working with the latest open source technologies, and can leverage your system design skills to make the right technical decisions on a system that needs to be bullet-proof.
Not only can you drive decisions among competing engineering trade-offs, your empathy with customers allows you to intuit innovative solutions for our customer problems. You will be working closely with product managers and other engineering teams to ensure we are building the right solution for our customers. You also enjoy mentoring other engineers, and love to be a hands-on teacher helping to up level the engineers around you.

Your Day-To-Day:
- Lead engineering architecture design reviews
- Advocate for and apply best practices when it comes to availability, scalability, operational excellence, and efficiency
- Set a high technical bar for the team through code and architecture design reviews
- Working across teams with Product, 3rd Part Partners, and Engineering to create integrated solutions that delight our customers
- Building services that adhere to our high bar on availability and latency in this mission-critical space
- Working with the latest open source technologies
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering
- Experience building complex and impactful software in a team environment
- Backend service experience in managed languages such as Java, Scala, Go, C#, or similar
- Familiarity with databases, especially SQL
- You influence your peers, advise senior leaders, coach and mentor junior team members
- You love delighting end customers and hunger for novel challenges
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and delivering high-availability, scalable cloud-based systems
- Are well versed in API design, API gateways and developer programs
- Interest in being a tech lead to a small team of developers
- Able to work side by side with product managers and other engineers to create a technical backlog to build product experiences that customers love
- You are passionate about quality design, code, tools and architectures
