Home and Navigation engineering team is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Software Engineer III within our Storefront Shopping Experience division. Home and Navigation team is responsible for powering Chewy.com’s Home Page, Navigation. Delivering reliable and high-performance services and features at Chewy’s scale requires engineers with extraordinary expertise and boundless creativity. At Chewy, SE III will design large scale distributed systems, consistently maintain, and improve key platform metrics, interact with product managers, understand our business goals, collaborate with other engineers, and innovate rapidly, delivering high-quality and high-value functionality.

What You'll Do:

What does it take to thrive as a SE III at Chewy? You need to be creative, responsible, and curious while delivering products and solutions for our customers. You’re excited about designing and implementing solutions that scale and engage customers to understand what’s needed to meet their needs. You’re able to think about technical and product opportunities, understand operational implications, and lead us in evolving our service architecture during a single conversation. You’re looking to lead and mentor team of bright, capable engineers.

  • Prototype and develop new software systems with web and cloud technologies.
  • Design and develop distributed systems for cloud computing.
  • Lead different tech teams and large project/product development while guiding junior team members with best practices.
  • Work in an Agile development environment, collaborating with multiple cross functional teams.
  • Experiment with new technologies to optimize benefit to the business. What you'll need:
  • 5+ year’s production experience working on modern software systems solving problems of scale and performance.
  • Full stack development experience, including experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JPA, JavaScript or any other modern programming languages.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Proficiency in Computer Science fundamentals – object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm - design, problem solving, and complexity analysis

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience building high traffic e-commerce / Internet applications.
  • Experience leading technical teams while providing technology direction/guidance.
  • Experience with Scrum, XP, or other agile methodologies.
  • Experience with data analysis/mining in large scale database environments.
  • Position may require travel
