Our mission is to help people see and understand their data, and the Interactive Analytics team is central to that mission. As part of this team you will be designing and developing features seen and used by tens of thousands of people every day, in every visualization that Tableau produces. We make tools to make those visualizations beautiful, insightful, interactive, and informative - yet simple and easy to create.

Some of the things we'll be doing include…

• Innovating in our core technologies to allow Tableau users to see, understand, and "reach out and touch" their data in new and interesting ways.

• Coding in and learning multiple technologies across our highly integrated suite of desktop, server, and cloud solutions, including C++, Java, C#, React, TypeScript, etc.

• Improving and defining our internal systems, processes, documentation, and best practices to improve organizational performance and enable the team to deliver more to our customers more quickly.

• Engaging with our customers to learn about their pain points and needs.

• Working with our designer, product owner, peer developers and testers in a collaborative environment where all suggestions are welcomed, and all ideas thoughtfully considered. 

Let's talk about you... 

• You're Experienced. You have professional experience with large scale codebases using object-oriented languages such as C#, C++ and Java. Proficiency using modern web development technologies (HTML5, CSS, React, JavaScript/TypeScript) is a huge plus.
• You're Technical. You have a solid understanding of object-oriented programming and common design patterns. You are comfortable working across all layers of the product (front-end, server, platform) while coding in several different languages.
• You're Passionate. You love to write maintainable and understandable quality code and are driven by solving complex problems. You write tests for your code to maintain high quality. You understand what it takes to write software that is used by thousands, even millions, of people. You love products that "just work" - that are robust, scalable and perform well.
• You're Self-Motivated. You take initiative and you drive your projects to success.
• You’re a Team Player. You enjoy collaborating with, learning from, and teaching others so we all can become better. You assume good intent in others and actively do your part to create a positive work environment.
• You're Customer Focused. You want to learn about customers, and you find satisfaction in shipping quality products that delight their experience.
• You’re Pragmatic. You are passionate about high-quality software, but you also recognize there are trade-offs required to ship software products and can make recommendations on tough calls.
