This role allows you to work from anywhere you choose across the U.S. (excluding U.S. territories), with the flexibility to work from the Seattle HQ office as often as you’d like. Please note that no matter where you are located, all employees should be available during our core working hours from 10 am to 4 pm PT Monday through Friday.

 

Your role and impact

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help define and execute the long-term vision for the member outreach platform. You’ll collaborate with diverse teams, including product management, product engineering, marketing and analytics. You will implement new technologies to enable efficient and robust outreach to 98point6 members. 

Strategic projects you may work on in your first year include:

  • Build robust and scalable email, sms and push notification delivery system
  • Work with data engineers to building systems for email campaign data ingestion
  • Develop a CI/CD process for infrastructure components to ensure high availability

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with marketing and product managers to scope, plan and deploy email campaigns and features
  • Work cross-functionally across multiple teams to prioritize and ensure we make positive trade-offs in how we deliver features
  • Ensure infrastructure offers reliable high-quality performance with consistent SLAs
  • Design architecture, write code, documentation, participate in code reviews and mentor other engineers
  • Identify and execute on opportunities for continual improvement of processes and systems

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in Java, Scala, Python, Typescript, Node.js or similar object-oriented language
  • 3+ years experience designing and developing scalable, fault tolerant systems using AWS or other cloud native stack
  • Experience scaling systems to a high volume of customers and end users
  • Familiarity with email standards, drivers of email campaign performance and development of email components
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire and align not only other software engineers but cross-functional team members as well
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including collaboration with all cross-functional teams (both technical and business). Strong sense of ownership and bias for action
  • Ability to be detail-oriented, build trust and collaborate with internal stakeholders in an agile development environment

Bonus

  • Experience working with AWS technologies, including: Pinpoint, SES, Kinesis, Redshift, Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB
  • Designed and developed CRM platforms or customer data platforms/data lakes
