About the Job

Tempered Networks is seeking a software engineering expert in data analysis and visualization with experience in network security to help us expand our product portfolio. We are seeking an experienced software engineer who can dive into network data (packet captures, traffic patterns, security events, etc.) and devise ways to summarize and display the data in a web UI with the goal of enhancing our secure networking orchestration.
 

Responsibilities
 

• Develops software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes following the software development lifecycle.
• Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
• Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
• Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
• Improves operations by conducting systems analysis recommending changes in policies and procedures.
• Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, techniques, and computing equipment, participating in educational opportunities, maintaining personal networks and/or participating in professional organizations.
• Protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Accomplishes engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
• Supports and develops software engineers by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities.

Requirements

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject, or equivalent experience
• Strong data analysis and data management skills using state-of-the-art tools such as such as InfluxDB or other time series databases
• Experience working with web application and REST API frameworks, preferably Rails
• Experience working with scripting languages like Ruby, Python, and Javascript
• A working understanding of C/C++ is desired but not a pre-condition
