GawkBox's vision is to enable content creators on Twitch, Mixer and YouTube to make a better living. There are close to 2M active live streamers in the world, yet over 99% of them earn under $4,000 per year from their efforts.

We talk to content creators every single day. They are some of the most passionate and driven folks you will meet and they LOVE broadcasting content. While the overwhelming majority would love to make the jump and broadcast as their full time career, the truth is that most cannot. They create content for more than 40 hours per week, but have to work another full time job to even pay the bills. Our vision is to change that. We want to enable broadcasters to earn a livable income from their content. We want to enable broadcasters to make the jump into a career and life that they love.

We're a small team of 15 based in downtown Seattle and are backed by Madrona Venture Group and London Venture Partners. We're looking for a senior engineer to come and join the team to help us scale our product globally. We offer a unique opportunity to develop your skills in a wide array of modern web technologies including a containerized infrastructure, distributed systems, usage of modern open source tooling, and cloud-native application development.

Questions we'll be asking in the interview process:

Skills and Qualifications:

Architecture: Can you give an example of how you approach designs of complex products or systems?

Distributed Systems: Can you give an example of how you've managed to implement distributed systems at/for scale? What have you done to get your designs into production? What is your approach to updating systems when they cannot meet the capacity requirements?

Mentorship: How have you mentored others and helped them learn something that you know very well?

Cross team collaboration: Have you worked closely with Sales/Marketing and Product Teams: and how can you work better with them?

Adaptability and ability to learn: What was a recent new technology that you learned and put into effect?

Engineering best practices: Can you give an example of having to implement certain engineering practices, that seems to go against what the team is used to, but would greatly benefit them if implemented?

Values: Our company values govern how we interact with each other and our customers.

Grit: Tell us about a time when you had to make an important technical decision without guidance from others.

Teamwork: How do you develop rapport with colleagues in different teams?

Mutual Respect: Describe a situation in which you had to arrive at a compromise or guide others to a compromise

Transparency / Honesty: Describe a work decision you have made that you wish you could rethink.

Data informed decision making: Describe a situation where you have persuaded a peer or manager to make a decision based upon data you shared
