Senior Software Engineer

About the Role
Uber's Core Security Engineering's team mission is to make the Uber production environment secure by default and provide industry leading products and services to all Uber's production services and infrastructure. We are focused on building both security primitives and end users products that help Uber to secure their service, build trust, and advance security to enable our global business.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Identity and Access Governance Platform Team. The team is responsible for ensuring all access is monitored, governed and compliant with regulatory mandates, managing security risk while enabling business agility. You'll work on distributed multi-cloud services, advance our foundational data security capabilities by building easily portable systems to reduce security and regulatory risk and develop systems to enforce least privilege principle.
What You'll Do
- Design end to end features and systems for Identity and Access Governance platform.
- Collaborate and consult with multiple engineering teams and other functional stakeholders from Legal, Privacy, Security, Compliance, Infrastructure, and Product for integration into our platform
- Design and develop new systems to empower fast data-driven decisions
- Build distributed backend systems serving real-time analytics and machine learning features at Uber scale.
- Mentor junior engineers
Basic Qualifications
- BS/BE degree in Computer Science or related fields.
- Advanced degrees are preferred but not required.
- Experience building batch data pipelines using Spark or another map-reduce technology is required.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Java/Go/C++/C
- REST APIs
- Distributed Messaging / Kafka
- Strong problem solving and coding skills.
- Hands-on experiences with backend system development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with building real time data pipelines
- Experience with machine learning or deep learning models

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $174,000 per year - $193,500 per year.For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $174,000 per year - $193,500 per year.For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $174,000 per year - $193,500 per year.For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
