Blue Nile is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Operational Engineering Team. The Operational Engineering Team in Blue Nile has a broad technical focus across multiple technologies allowing our business and internal customers to consistently deliver. We provide critical support, engineering, and operations responsible for on premise infrastructure and virtualization, disaster recovery, showroom technology, telemetry, automating operational tasks and beyond, productivity and SaaS tools/solutions, as well as our cloud journey, and much more. Our team is growing and we're looking for the right agile and flexible technical professional to join our team and our journey.
In this role, the candidate will work on a collaborative team able to engage on a diverse set of deliverables, but have a primary focus with On Premise Infrastructure/Environments and our AWS Cloud. Requires a broad set of hands on enterprise technical experience to help our team move forward. AWS Cloud account management, service implementation, governance, and migration experience a must!

Primary Responsibilities

• Focus on On-Premise and AWS Cloud Environment and Account Engineering and Management
• Drive deliverables in support of on Premise Enterprise Systems Stability, Currency, and Availability
• Primary on AWS Migration initiative and supporting current AWS Accounts and Customers
• Work collaboratively with internal team and cross teams on initiatives based on prioritization
• Develop, document, and maintain on premise and cloud based designs, configurations, and knowledge
• Manage assigned tasks related to initiatives in an agile environment
• Work across multiple environments retaining web, service, database, container, and extended technologies enabling our business to function
• Responsible and accountable for tasks completing on time and well documented
• Identify and acknowledge risks proposing and driving mitigations and solutions
• Implement monitoring and telemetry to identify critical issues and trend metrics for KPIs
• Respond to and Resolve complex cloud, environment, platform and service incidents
• Engage in and support security initiatives and alignment
• Contribute to identifying and implementation automation to reduce manual efforts and improve consistency
• Work in and support improving a structured environment in process, people, and technology
• Support on call rotations for critical incident response

Qualifications

• AWS Cloud Experience across primary AWS Services and Capabilities
• Experience on AWS Cloud Migrations and Account Management
• Experience with Linux and Windows platforms in enterprise environments
• Virtualization and Enterprise Environment Management Experience, VMWare
• Disaster Recovery and Backup Solutions Management, Veritas or Veeam
• Automation experience with tasks, infrastructure, and cloud, Pulumi, Ansible, Terraform, Python
• Working Knowledge Networking experience regarding Cloud and On-Premise, Direct Connect, VPN
• Familiar with Database experience Cloud and On-Pemise
• Able to Develop, document, and maintain on premise and cloud based designs, configurations, and knowledge
• Ability to work across multiple teams and levels in support of project deliverables
• Ability to manage and track work progress assigned ensuring delivery dates are met
• Familiar with working productivity with Atlassian Tools, Jira Software, Confluence, Jira Service Management
• Track, manage, and communicate status of multiple, simultaneous projects
• Provide operational leadership, introducing new technologies and techniques to the team, provide Sr Engineering level mentorship
• Work closely with team members in the broader Technology group to optimize performance and integrate new tools
• Work through ambiguity to distill details and identify clear requirements
• Ability to Participate in on-call rotation to support critical response and resolution on outages
• College degree preferred
• 7+ years of experience in an enterprise environment focused on AWS Cloud
• Ability to lead a delivery working and orchestrating multiple resources contributing
• Well-versed in data center operations, processes, and practices
• Strong communication skills; you will be working with a variety of technology and business leaders throughout the company
