About Logixboard

Logixboard is a white-labeled customer experience software that is transforming how the $2 trillion freight forwarding industry operates.

In a highly competitive and technologically antiquated industry undergoing rapid digitalization, we are providing freight forwarders with the only white-labeled and integrated customer experience software available to the market today.

Our software enables freight forwarders to deliver world-class digital experience to their customers, which propels them far ahead of their competition and dramatically increases customer retention and sales.

Our customers absolutely love our platform, and we're experiencing tremendous growth both in new customers and in funding, with nearly $48 million in capital raised to date.

About the Job

You will:

  • Work closely with a software development team on a daily basis to understand their tooling and infrastructure needs.
  • Build new tools and integrate existing ones that empower the engineering team to deliver customer value.
  • Collaborate frequently with fellow Site Reliability Engineers and infrastructure-focused engineers to ensure cohesive technical strategy across teams.
  • Improve the entire lifecycle of a service, from inception and design through to deployment, monitoring, and refinement. You will be expected to take ownership of a challenge and see it through.
  • Help to establish our Service-Level Objectives and enable the ability to track and meet them.
  • Practice and help to refine incident response processes that include timely and blameless postmortems.
  • Participate in and improve our "on-interrupt" rotation (aka on-call-lite during business hours local time). If the time comes, help establish what a more comprehensive on-call system might look like.
  • Proactively seek out, propose and implement improvements to the Logixboard product, to the infrastructure and to Logixboard's way of working.
  • Have unique opportunities to learn and grow as an engineer. We’re looking for engineers who will help lay the foundation for Logixboard’s technological growth to become the leader in logistics software.
  • Have a lot of freedom to explore, experiment, succeed, fail and learn!

About You

  • We do not dictate a minimum number of years of experience, but this role is not currently open to entry or junior level candidates. You have worked and learned at at least one other place in a hands-on, backend engineering, SRE, DevOps or infrastructural role; and you can talk about your learnings from that experience!
  • You have some experience in software engineering or application development beyond scripting. Many challenges you face will benefit from a software engineering skillset.
  • You're familiar with Linux systems, standard networking protocols and at least basic security principles.
  • You have experience in managing and scaling distributed systems in a cloud environment. We use AWS, but familiarity with other cloud environments is great too!
  • You're at least somewhat familiar with a monitoring system for metrics and logging. We use Grafana with Prometheus and Loki, but familiarity with other stacks is great too!
  • You love automating repetitive manual operations.
  • You have empathy both for external (end user) and internal (developers and customer success) customers, and an ability to explain what that means to you.
  • You have the ability to work fairly autonomously in a process-light and sometimes ambiguous environment. The infrastructure & tooling team will be spread out and will be working closely with application development teams. We will rely on you to identify problems and areas for investment.
  • You're a keen explorer. While we try not to use all of our "innovation tokens" in one swing, we do still like to find the best tools for a given challenge. We spend the time to explore those options in depth.

About our Hiring Process

The hiring process at Logixboard tries to be short and to the point, while allowing ample opportunity to see if we're a mutual fit to work together. During the process, you'll meet with the CTO, the existing SRE team, and other engineers within Logixboard, to discuss your background, your aspirations, the way you work, and how this role might fit for you.

As a general rule of thumb, we avoid whiteboard interviews - you can leave the CS101 books at home. There's no algorithm quizzes here! After an initial chat with the hiring manager, you'll be given a short coding exercise (in the ballpark of 3 hours) that you can complete as your schedule allows. When you're ready, we'll walk through your solution, talk about the tradeoffs and decisions you made, how you might like to expand the solution, and pair-program our way through some additions or changes to get a feel for how we'll work together. You'll also have some conversational chats with other engineering and non-engineering members of the team. When all is said and done, we'll try to get you a decision as soon as possible.

Benefits:

  • Stock Options
  • Logixboard offers 100% of health insurance costs for all US employees.
  • 401(k)
  • Unlimited time off - just coordinate your leaves with us in advance.
  • We are a fast-growing startup where your position will have a direct impact on the business
  • Generous parental leave
  • We strive to be a truly inclusive, diverse, and continuously-learning organization: If you have needs that create a more equitable environment, let's talk

An equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace is a high priority at Logixboard. We place a high value on those with varied experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives and highly encourage under-represented and traditionally marginalized communities to apply. We build great products and great teams. Come work with us.
