Role Description

The Dropbox team is growing, and we’re looking for engineering managers to support this growth. In this role, you'll lead a team of 5 - 10 engineers, working closely with your direct reports, product managers, designers, QA engineers, and other engineering teams to build the future of Dropbox. Our team culture rewards a bias for action, engineering partnership in defining the product, and discipline in how we develop. You’ll thrive in our team if you love chasing impact, working through ambiguity, and developing a culture of innovation.
The Telemetry Team is responsible for providing an efficient, user-friendly platform that empowers Dropboxers with the insights to operate reliable and performant systems.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for growing and developing an incredible team of hardworking and motivated engineers with high expectations around individual ownership and impact
  • You will develop a healthy and collaborative culture that embodies Dropbox's values.
  • You will ensure your team delivers extraordinary output, and continuously seeks ways to make an outsized impact
  • You will set direction for the team, anticipate strategic and scaling-related challenges via thoughtful long-term planning
  • You will help craft technical and product strategy

Requirements

  • BS (or higher, e.g., MS, or PhD) in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of people management experience with an engineering team
  • Experience as a software developer, preferably domain expertise within SRE and/or production environments
  • Experience working across an entire organization to drive results, foster change and building inclusive environments
  • Military veterans strongly encouraged to apply!  Leadership, integrity, teamwork, and global perspective are just a few of the skills learned through Military service. At Dropbox, we value the experiences of current and previous members of the U.S. Armed Forces. This role is open to any qualified candidate, however we have identified that the qualifications for this role match many of those who have served in the U.S. military. If you are a veteran please be sure to mark your veteran status at the bottom of the application. You can read more about our commitment to hiring veterans at dropbox.com/jobs/Veterans.

Additional Perks + Benefits

In order to be successful in our Virtual First environment we needed to make changes that would allow employees to have more control over both where and how they work. Therefore, we embrace “non-linear workdays” with defined core collaboration hours that overlap across time zones. Beyond that, we encourage employees to design their own schedules to balance collaboration with needs for individual focus. We’ve also moved from “all day syncs” to an “async by default” culture, reserving meetings for discussion, debate, and decision-making, and handling all other work in our deep focus hours.
