About the Team

The Product Development Team is responsible for all the products that Subsplash offers. We are a super-star team of designers, developers, PM’s and QA professionals creating polished experiences for our clients and end-users. The Product Development Team is responsible for the entire user experience including: Mobile Apps (end-user facing), Subsplash Giving, the Subsplash Dashboard CMS (client-facing), Web App, TV App, backend data feeds, analytics, and more. We serve thousands of clients, millions of end-users, and billions of individual app impressions. And with unlimited smoothie supplies, we know how to craft a mean smoothie.

Role Summary

As a Software Development Engineer in Test (III), you will report directly to the Director of Engineering. The ideal candidate is a brilliant problem solver, a quick learner, an influencer, attentive to detail, and an excellent written communicator. He/she has a passion for discovery! An excellent SDET will exhaust all options and permutations that the platform is capable of, and push the software to its absolute limit.

In this role, you will be responsible for writing automated tests and building out test pipelines for the purpose of discovering defects (both functional and visual) and reporting on them in a written fashion. The surface area that you will cover will be extensive -- mobile apps (iOS, Android), backend web services, front-end javascript projects, legacy code bases and even PCI-compliant environments. You will contribute to the creative process by helping to identify problems quickly. You will work with other members of the team, in a highly collaborative environment, to arrive at meaningful and beautiful solutions. You’ll be working with us to drive design and development to completion, thus shipping beautiful and extensible software that delights real people. You will also help to establish testing and quality assurance best practices that allow for other to join in on the process.

Top 3 Key Outcomes in Year 1

  • Become an expert on Subsplash products -- you should have a comprehensive knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of our products and understand how it all works behind the scenes
  • Develop at least one major test pipeline for a major product release
  • Work with the rest of the team to bring documentation up-to-date in all areas pertaining to testing

Your Priorities

  • Assess the needs of projects that are currently in flight and propose the kinds of tests and testing pipelines that would be necessary to release with confidence
  • Write tests for the software that is currently in development and file defects
  • Develop a comprehensive testing strategy and pipeline with increasing amounts of automation
  • Document processes and best practices for testing our software
  • Communicate regularly with PMs, Devs, and Designers to ensure that we are releasing excellent quality work that meets our internal requirements
  • Learn the innards of the Subsplash Platform
  • Collaborate with the Product Team to implement features and improvements to the Subsplash platform

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of testing experience in a group or team environment (mobile app or web)
  • Deep experience with software testing frameworks like Selenium/Appium or similar tools
  • Knowledge of continuous integration environments such as Jenkins / TravisCI / GitLab
  • Fluent with git
  • Deep knowledge of mobile app development environments: Xcode, adb/ant, Visual Studio, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with one of the following scripting languages: Go, Elixir, bash, Python, etc.
  • Experience with beta testing environments TestFlight, Crashlytics, etc...
  • Ability to use Agile practices to work and think iteratively through the testing/QA dimensions of software products and ship goals
  • Knowledge of both web and native mobile application systems and industry best practices
  • Eligible to work in US
  • Previous experience in developing iOS/AN native apps and/or web application is a plus
