We are searching for a Software Development Manager who will drive key delivery across the eCommerce Platform. Our team seeks a dynamic, organized self-starter to lead a development team. This is a highly visible role that requires both business insight for working with senior management and technical depth for removing development road blocks.

Expedia's eCommerce Platform (eCP) team is at the heart of Expedia Group’s business; powering travelers’ booking through post-stay experience for our portfolio of brands. Our eCP teams are diverse – we build and maintain elite travel platform services such as order management, payments, loyalty and risk as well as infrastructural services like data centers, data platforms and security systems. Our eCP vision is to become the most versatile and expansive transactional platform in travel. The Platform Product & Architecture Team within eCP is driving the evolution of our platform towards our strategic vision. 

What you'll do

• You manage a team of software developers, driving internal product development
• You guide the team in adoption of cloud & serverless technologies, advise on the best design practices, and find opportunities to simplify and scale up to millions of transactions
• You review and provide guidance on the team's work, continuously striving to look for opportunities for process improvement
• You learn about direct-reports and their career aspirations, so that you can enable them to succeed
• You are a forward-thinking individual who is constantly looking at opportunities to innovate while solving tough business problems
• You work on initiatives that transcend team and org boundaries
• You are responsible for your team's deliveries, roadmap and operations, set standards and lead by example
• You inspire and motivate engineering talent within and outside the team by sharing the technical complexities, intellectual challenges and a sense of excitement in building this business
• You hire and develop top talent providing relevant and timely coaching across all competencies
• You promote a “one team” mentality that encourages ownership and collaboration around technical and customer problems irrespective of organizational boundaries

Who you are: 

• 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer and 2+ in a technical lead/management role
• Excellent knowledge of Java, Spring, Rest APIs and SOA
• Experience working with SQL and No-SQL Databases
• Strong background in Cloud computing, preferably AWS
• Scrum master experience, and/or experience leading agile teams
• Passionate about code and large scale system design
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, or related discipline
