Summary
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager based in Seattle. You will lead & grow a team and architect, implement, and maintain a broad set of strategic services. This team provides high-availability, latency-sensitive APIs to carriers, mobile apps, and other partners. Our systems are essential to multiple services at the heart of our product portfolio and business strategy.
You will scale our systems to better serve billions of requests per month. In addition, you will collaborate with co-located and remote colleagues at Hiya to define and deliver shared components and services.
What we expect from you:
- Lead a software engineering team that is based in Seattle
- Provide mentorship, coaching, career development, and performance management as a people manager to a diverse group of engineers

- Build and sustain highly distributed systems with stringent SLA requirements
- Scale our APIs to hundreds of thousands of queries per second
- Deliver software as a hands-on coder who leads by example

Awesome if you have some experience in:
- Managing a software engineering team for 3 or more years
- Providing APIs as a service for third-party developers
- Programming in a functional language (extra points for Scala)
- Supporting multiple external partners and a software developer community
- Developing software for customers using iOS & Android devices
- Integrating with carrier networks, such as SIP & VoLTE implementations
- Building systems with network configuration, queues, stream processing, caching, etc.
- Delivering solutions with Kubernetes/Docker, Kafka, DynamoDB, Redis and data analysis tools
