Twitch is building the future of interactive entertainment and our Commerce engineering team builds key services which allow thousands of creative broadcasters to monetize among the millions of Twitch viewers. Our work is at the center of the rapidly growing “gig economy” which allows these creators to earn part or all of their income by producing high quality content on Twitch.

You will be part of our New Business group that is focused on incubating new product ideas to support our creators. You will work closely with the engineers and QA on your team, as well as cross-team with product, UX, and Customer Support. The ideal candidate must be able to collaborate and communicate well inside and outside of the team, have a demonstrated ability to deliver highly visible results, and thrive in dealing with ambiguity.

This role is perfect for an engineer who has a passion for building high quality, reliable, extensible Web application software. You are a full stack developer who is comfortable with backend application and persistent services in addition to Javascript client frameworks. You value the benefits of continuous integration and deployment and are confident when you push your code to millions of users. You enjoy mentoring new team members and collaborating during the development cycle. And yes, you like to have fun while you’re at it!

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
  • Brainstorm with designers, product managers and engineers to design and build new features
  • Collaborate closely with your team on architecture, implementation, problem solving and overcoming obstacles in an ever changing, fast paced environment
  • Obsessively care about the customer’s experience

Requirements

  • Strong CS fundamentals and rigor in automated testing, code quality, and engineering best practices
  • Comfort working in different parts of the stack
  • Experience or familiarity with consumer-facing web applications
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • You are intellectually curious, passionate, inventive, and eager to grow.

Bonus Points

  • A MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent academic background
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience building scalable web applications
  • Avid user of Twitch or passion for video games
  • Go, Java or Javascript experience
  • Experience scaling architecture
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets
  • Cloud-based application development and deployment
