Our Opportunity:

At Chewy we are building a team to launch a Sponsored Advertising business and looking for a Software Engineer.  Sponsored Ads enables brands on Chewy to promote products directly to their target customers at the moment they are looking for products and ready to make a purchase.  This provides brands with the ability to generate additional sales and customer awareness by showcasing relevant products in premier positions on Chewy.  Advertising is a critical component of the ecommerce ecosystem and provides a critical revenue stream to the company.

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as a member of a newly formed engineering team building the ads platform.
  • Design, develop, and implement large scale distributed systems that process and serve large volumes of data and operate with very low latency.
  • Hold a high bar for the quality and design of systems.
  • Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
  • Decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions that operationally scale and are easily maintained.
  • Generate and analyze engineering metrics to inform leadership and make data driven decisions.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication and convey dissenting opinions in a constructive manner. Operate in compliance with IT standards, policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Ensure that technical solutions follow best practices, are reliable, are easily maintainable and are scalable under sustained load
  • Participate in design and code reviews

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or related field.
  • 3+ years of software development experience.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals and programing skills.
  • Experience developing software in an agile environment with CI/CD.
  • Proficiency in system design, contributing to large scale distributed systems.
  • Expert level programming skills in Java, Kotlin, or another modern programming language.
  • Exposer to front end technologies like React, Vue or similar JS frameworks.
  • Proficiency in building solutions on AWS and scaling.
  • Position may require occasional travel.

Bonus:

  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience and Domain expertise in digital advertising or marketing technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience taking a project from inception through launch.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $91,000.00-$183,500.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
