The Role

As a Software Engineer at Versive, you will utilize your strong hands-on technical skills, cybersecurity knowledge, and customer orientation to operationalize machine learning solutions that solve critical problems faced by enterprises - in particular, identifying advanced cyber threats within enterprise networks. The role is hands-on-keyboard with the latest big data, machine learning, and cybersecurity technologies, as well as customer-facing, which provides opportunities for direct revenue impact and market insights.

What You’ll Do

• Enterprise operationalization: Your work will directly translate to business value - launching customers and products is important, but optimizing how we do this will multiply that impact. You will use your technical skills to guide how we accelerate our business.
• Massive data: You will dive in to terabytes of structured and unstructured data from large enterprises, and develop actionable insights using our machine learning platform..
• Linux hacking: You will build a toolset to aggressively dive into data, systems, and compute platforms to get the results you are seeking.
• Machine learning: You will demonstrate and use machine learning to build models that detect advanced cyber adversaries.
• Pushing the limits: This role will be on the cutting edge of our product development. As we push to solve more of our customer challenges, you will be prototyping new features and product ideas.

What You’ve Done

• Commercial software engineering: You have 2+ years of professional software development experience with languages and systems such as Python, Scala, Java, and version control (git).
• Sales/Solution/System engineering: You have 1+ years of SE experience working directly with customers, building trust and guiding them through the sales process.
• Big data: You have working knowledge of big data infrastructure such as Hadoop, HDFS, Spark, and AWS. You've setup infrastructure and built data analysis pipelines with terabytes of data and understand the challenges of manipulating such large datasets.
• Cybersecurity: You are intimately familiar with defending corporate networks as evidenced by having:
  • Familiarity with network data logs and tool such as Splunk and FireEye
  • Operationalized and created security analytics
  • Hunted for threats within a Security Operations Center (SOC)
  • Excelled at red team/blue team exercises
• CS fundamentals: You have earned at least a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related degree AND you have a strong ethos of continuously learning new technologies.
• Interest in Machine Learning: You are exploring machine learning techniques and have used tools like scikit-learn and pandas.

• Travel: You are willing to travel 20 to 50% of the time.
