We are building a blockchain-backed trade logistics platform with the goal to provide the most frictionless experience for all parties in the cross-border global supply chain; buyers, suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, logistics service providers, port operators, customs, etc. Problems we are tackling include purchase order and shipment collaboration, document automation, shipping route optimization, rate engine, transition time prediction, customer insights and growth, business performance analytics, transaction risk modeling, etc. This is an early-stage initiative with a fast-paced, highly collaborative start-up like environment inside a global company.

We are looking for a hands-on entrepreneurial-minded development leader for a core part of our business and platform. You will hire a team of talented software developers, and provide technical leadership and mentorship, encouraging professional and personal growth for each individual in the team. You will help reboot our technology stack in a non-disruptive manner and work with stakeholders to define and set priorities for new product features. You need to be flexible and entrepreneurial, comfortable operating with ambiguity, and willing to iterate quickly, from conception to production in a couple of weeks. You are passionate about the potential customer and societal impact and aspire to make a huge impact by creating the simplest products and experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a very ‘Hands-on’ technical leadership and mentoring for engineers in the team.
  • Lead the technical design, vision and implementation strategy for major services & components of software products.
  • Build and own critical parts of the services and deliver to production
  • Ability to articulate the design and code choices to cross-functional teams.
  • Create an environment to foster professional and personal growth of each individual engineer in the team.
  • Lead the team to provide a production-ready system components and operation support; and systematically mature components, owning them end to end.
  • Ensure timely response and resolutions to relevant site operations and support escalations
  • Create plans that have clear, measurable success criteria, and clearly communicate progress and outcomes
  • Drive best practices on the team, deal with ambiguity and competing objectives, and proactively identify and mitigate risks before they become roadblocks.
  • Write effective narratives and present them concisely and effectively to senior leadership.
  • Define, measure, and improve Key Performance Indicators for the team

Requirements

  • Bachelor in Technology, Engineering, or equivalent (BE/BTech/BS)
  • 10 or more years of professional software development, implementation, and operations experience. Of which 2-3 years of clear demonstration of progressive experience in management.
  • Strong technical aptitude to lead an engineering team
  • Ability to meet challenges under demanding conditions and keep calm under pressure.
  • Organized and able to work with many people to deliver product features on a tight schedule
  • Proven ability to influence across matrix organizations at various levels.
  • Strong experience in managing multiple projects/programs.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines
  • Resourceful - able to deliver results with minimal direction.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with developers, business owners, and senior business leaders
  • Solid understanding of developer tools and cloud technologies
  • Experience working on frameworks or platforms consumed by a large developer audience
  • Well versed in emerging industry technologies and trends, and the ability to communicate that knowledge to the team and use it to influence product direction.
  • Roll-up sleeves attitude, remove obstacles that prevent teams from achieving their goals.
