The Role

Outreach users navigate through hundreds of prospects, accounts and opportunities a day as part of their daily workflows. Empowering customers to have an intuitive search experience, with the power to generate simple and advanced queries, to explore Outreach CRM data and its relationships, is at the heart of this team’s core mission. We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to re-envision our Search experience for a multi-tenant environment at massive scale, while ensuring compliance with our security and privacy standards without compromising on a high quality bar for customer experience. A Software Engineering Manager for this position, will be building out the team from the ground up, collaborating closely with our Product and Client Experience teams, and leading the team to conceptualize, design and deliver on this challenge. 

About the Team

The mission of the Search team is to deliver a scalable search solution with easy and intuitive query access to the data that our customers need on a day-to-day basis. In addition to building out this service with interfaces that can be leveraged by other parts of the application, analytics that provide at-a-glance overview of workflow data being accessed, this team will also own the end user search experience and collaborate closely with the Product and Client Experience teams.

Your Daily Adventures Will Include

• Manage, coach, and mentor a team of up to 9 engineers
• Build a team culture of growth, impact and trust
• Own the project backlog for your team, working closely with product management and engineering stakeholders to identify projects and set priorities
• Define and track key performance metrics for your team
• Collaborate closely with recruiting to define job requirements, interview candidates, and build the team

Basic Requirements

• 3+ years of management experience with software engineering teams
• Experience with complex architecture in a fast-paced environment
• Previous experience mentoring and growing an engineering team
• Demonstrated success owning and delivering on problem statements from start to finish

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in working with services written in Golang is highly desirable 
• Experience with our technical stack: Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Elixir, ElasticSearch, MySQL, AWS, Docker and Kubernetes
