The Job

As Tango Card continues to grow our engineering team, we are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of developers for our Reward Link product. In this role, you will have a high degree of flexibility in and full ownership of the development lifecycle. The role is cross-functional -- you will work closely with Product, Technical Program Managers, and other Engineering Managers. A successful candidate should be able to manage the tactical delivery tasks while simultaneously driving strategic planning for forward looking initiatives.

Did you know? This role hosts an onboarding program that includes spending time as a developer as part of the SCRUM team. This allows you the opportunity to work alongside the current team, build relationships, as well as “see” through your team’s eyes.   

Reports To: Our CTO

As a Software Engineering Manager at Tango Card, you’ll:

  • Hire and lead a team of developers in building best-in-class cloud-based products
  • Onboard new team members so they can quickly get up to speed on our technology stack
  • Lead the design of new features and contribute to the development process 
  • Mentor the team members: conduct one-on-one meetings, give feedback, and measure progress
  • Cultivate a learning environment where the team members continuously improve, and contribute to brown bags, conferences, and hackathons.

To be effective in our Software Engineering Manager role, you must have:

  • Passionate about and have a track record of building highly functional technical teams
  • Hands-on experience in building complex, highly scalable cloud-based systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices, including agile, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment
  • 7+ years of software development experience
  • 2+ years of leadership experience

Our ideal Software Engineering Manager at Tango Card will have most of the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience programming in Java Spring, PostgreSQL, Vue.js (or React), and AWS technologies
