About the Role
We are looking for talented engineers to join the Distributed Caching team which is part of the Storage Platform organization. We as Storage Platform provide standardized, integrated and fully managed database, object storage and cache infrastructure which powers the majority of critical services of Uber worldwide. We develop infrastructure which helps run Uber's large scale deployments in an automated fashion and dynamically scale it to the business needs while ensuring that highest levels of reliability and uptime are achieved.
---- What the Candidate Will Do ----

  • Design, lead prototyping and development, test and roll out the next generation of our Caching infrastructure at Uber, meeting high standards of performance, reliability, security and usability.
  • Collaborate with others, both from Storage Platform and from application engineering teams to ensure that the infrastructure we are building works seamlessly and best serves application engineers
  • Mentor more junior engineers, guiding their work and supporting their professional development.
  • Contribute to enhancing the team's technical and organizational culture; serve as a role model to others.


---- Basic Qualifications ----

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering field (e.g. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.)
  • 3+ years software development experience.
  • Experience implementing complex projects with multiple dependencies.
  • Experience coding with Go, Java, C++ or Python.


---- What the Candidate Will Do ----

  • Knowledge of scalable storage and distributed systems. For example, you know the tradeoffs of different sharding and replication strategies; you can reason about data consistency in a distributed environment.
  • Experience analyzing, monitoring, and troubleshooting large-scale, high-traffic distributed systems
  • Production experience in configuring and operating large scale Infrastructure deployments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write detailed technical documents.

For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $174,000 per year - $193,500 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $174,000 per year - $193,500 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
