Blue Nile's Technology Organization is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Operational Engineering Team. In this position, you will be part of a small, highly skilled team owning Blue Niles Infrastructure, Network, Productivity Tools, and Telemetry. In this role, we are seeking to add an operational engineer aligned to technically own and manage our productivity and telemetry tools from an operational and development perspective. You will be an integral part of the operational engineering team in this role also contributing to cross functional areas of the team's ownership and responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, development, automate and maintain Atlassian Tools (JSW, JSM, Confluence, OpsGenie, Insight CMDB)
  • Integrate and consume data from APIs and Data Sources supporting Productivity and Telemetry Tools
  • Manage all automation/code using industry standard source control system
  • Implement, manage, and automate telemetry and solutions to support remediation, notification, and visibility to critical issues/impacts
  • Operate across on premise, cloud, and SaaS technologies
  • Create and maintain all design and implementation documentation
  • Own and Support internal Team and Cross Team Projects and Initiatives
  • Track, manage, and communicate status of multiple, simultaneous projects and tasks
  • Provide operational leadership, introducing new technologies and techniques to the teams
  • Work closely with team members in the broader Technology group to optimize performance and integrate new tools
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business and make key recommendations based on that understanding
  • Own or contribute to tasks assigned supporting technologies/initiatives beyond immediate primary subject matter expertise
  • Continually learn existing technical landscape and new capabilities as existing or implementing
  • Obtaining, reviewing, defining, and prioritizing requirements related to projects and tasks
  • Participate in on call rotation


Qualifications

  • Expert experience in managing and developing on productivity and telemetry tools
    • (Jira Software, Jira Service Manager, OpsGenie, Insight, Confluence)
  • Expert experience in monitoring critical systems across multiple environment types (On Premise, Cloud, and SaaS)
    • (PRTG, Splunk, Cloudwatch, Zabbix, Sitescope preferred)
  • Expert Experience in integrating and leveraging API's and Data Sources across platform tools
  • Expert experience in automating operational tasks
  • Preferred experience automating/developing using Python and JavaScript, or similar
  • Experience in CMDB and Asset Management Schemas implementation and management
  • Experience in providing and maintaining design diagrams and documentation
  • Ability to work across multiple platforms and environments
  • Well-versed in data center operations, processes, and practices
  • Strong communication skills; you will be working with a variety of technology and business leaders throughout the company
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and work through challenging projects and tasks
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Experience working on a cross functional team that supports and manages many technologies and platforms
  • Remain flexible and agile in adjusting to priorities based on business needs
