The Challenge
An Employee’s experience at any given company is more relevant now than ever. Qualtrics’ Employee Experience product suite has had the most growth year over year out of any of our other products. We're building services that will illuminate business’s next opportunity to create better managers, develop more careers, build stronger teams, and predict success all through the power of ongoing employee feedback.
As the Employee Experience customer base has grown, so have the needs for more tailored insights and data visualizations. With hundreds of thousands to millions of data points getting processed in our dashboards at any given time, it’s critical that the performance of our products continue to scale with our growth. We’re building a whole new team within the Employee Experience organization to do this, and we need your help!
As a Staff Software Engineer on this team, you will be applying your distributed systems knowledge, familiarity with front end technologies (react, angularjs, rendering data), databases, various storage engines, and web service design and implementation to build reliable, highly performant and scalable software and services. You will also serve as a mentor to an incredibly talented team and have the opportunity to have far reaching, cross-organizational impact.
Each team also has freedom of choosing the stack on each project, allowing engineers to experiment and learn new, up and coming technologies like Galera, React, and AWS technology including elastic scaling. Primarily, our stack includes Node.js, Java, ReactJS, JavaScript, mongoDB, and Cassandra.
The Expectations for Success
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 6+ years of meaningful experience
- Strong algorithms, data structures and coding background
- Experience with front end technologies like React, AngularJs
- Disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance
- Experience with web infrastructure and distributed systems
- Experience with software engineering standard methodologies (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design document)
Additional Preferred Experience
- Rendering data pipelines (getting data, shaping data, displaying data)
- Working with large scale data and complex visualizations
- Technical leadership and/or mentorship
A Day in the Life
- Develop scalable, fast, robust, and simple web-based solutions to tackle complex business problems
- Implement new features and optimize existing ones to drive maximum performance
- Touch on large amounts of data, including processing and visualization
- Drive architectural leadership across teams
- Drive multi-quarter, multi-team initiatives
- Attend daily stand-up meetings, collaborate with your peers, prioritize features, and work with a sense of urgency to deliver value to your customers
