DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION
We think at the Exabyte scale and drive innovation in archival storage to enable success at that scale. Our designs are fundamentally changing the data center, providing operational and financial benefits that are critical to the success of the AWS business and its millions of customers.

We are seeking a System Development Engineer to work across software, hardware, robotics and telemetry to build industry leading solutions for our customers. You will work from the customer back to the physical level and design for scale. You will be engaged during product design, manufacturing, testing and operational stages. Ideal candidate for this role will be a hands on leader that enjoys equal parts time on developing new product and constant improvement on existing. You will be comfortable pushing boundaries outside of what has been established as a norm for decades, all in an effort to reduce cost and increase durability for data storage.

You’ll have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve your product’s performance, quality and cost for new product introduction. Using data and key metrics, you will also drive and measure process improvements that enhance our operational and cost effectiveness. We’re changing an industry, and we need team members who are ready for this challenge and who want to reach beyond what is possible today.

Why it matters: Public cloud IT services represent the majority of growth in the overall IT services market and will continue to do so for several years to come. The breathtaking scale of AWS, combined with a deep understanding of how our hardware is used, creates a unique opportunity for component customizations that will directly benefit our customers.

Why you will love it: You will work with a team of engineers engaging with teams across the company to build next-generation cutting edge infrastructure. You will have a direct impact on our bottom line and the ability to deliver features and functionality to our customers. You will be part of a growing, fast paced, and fun team and have ownership for the implementation of your work.
