The Boeing Company is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to join the Product & Services Safety (P&SS) - Regulatory Administration & Airworthiness team located in Everett, Washington.
The role will lead and inspire a group of employees performing engineering, technical, and regulatory tasks within multiple (2 or more) Engineering disciplines in the Systems Oversight Team under Regulatory Administration & Airworthiness organization. The roles include a significant level of mentoring, developing and motivating direct reports.
Candidates applying for this position should be comfortable providing both technical and project management guidance, as well as leading process improvement activities.
The positions involve direct coordination and collaboration with the FAA, as well as leadership across the business units. The ability to develop and maintain positive and healthy relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports is a key attribute to being successful in these roles
Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of FAA Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) system oversight
  • Develops and sets operational goals in alignment with the Regulatory Administration & Airworthiness organization strategic objectives
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, including budget and staffing
  • Work collaboratively with the FAA and develop strong relationships and partnerships with stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports


Leads direct reports responsible for System Oversight:

  • Facilitate FAA oversight of the ODA Unit and Holder -audits, supervision
  • Guide execution of periodic audits: ODA Holder self-audit, process effectiveness audits
  • Identify and maintain key indicators to measure performance of the ODA Unit and Holder; ensure compliance performance is reflected in Safety Management System(s)
  • Perform periodic risk-based oversight assessment of the ODAs performance, formulate recommended risk mitigations and utilize results to help guide execution of periodic audits


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location option.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering or science related field
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering
  • Engineering leadership experience


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in technical management and oversight of projects and resources
  • Experience developing and executing project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals for the team.
  • Experience with aircraft certification procedures and compliance to regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with and knowledge of regulatory requirements (14 CFR part 21, 14 CFR part 25), especially in regards to ODA unit member qualifications, responsibilities and appointment requirements
