Constantly evolving online worlds require a strong foundation of stable, usable tools to streamline content creation. ArenaNet’s engineers take great pride in writing high quality, highly optimized code that can support this development paradigm. We’re looking for programmers who are driven to engineer industry leading technology that supports continual development of online worlds.
WHO YOU ARE
You’re a strong tools engineer with a track record of excellent customer service. You enjoy collaborating with game designers, artists, and engineers to ensure that development tools enhance the creative process. You have opinions on user experience and are not shy about digging into the reasons why something does or does not work.
We'd love to hear from you if:
- You have a B.S. in computer science or equivalent education or experience
- You have 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, working with multiple development disciplines
- You are experienced with iterative, feedback-based UI development
- You are a strong self-tester during development, and dive into investigating issues as they arise in order to come up with robust and stable solutions
- You have great communication skills and the ability to drill down into sometimes nebulous requests in order to turn them into requirements and iterate on solutions
You will:
- Be responsible for implementing and maintaining quality of life improvements for designers and others within existing toolsets
- Drive tools design and implementation decisions that result in stability, testability, performance, and maintainability
- Support maximum uptime for ArenaNet’s world-class content development teams
- Proactively fix crashes and bugs as soon as they appear
