We are looking for a highly motivated Accounting Manager to oversee the function and manage a team of 4+ to drive a timely close and reporting process. The right person will help scale and build both the team and process as Outreach grows and expands. You will be a thought leader in technical accounting and help identify and implement best practices both technically and operationally. You will be responsible for all technical revenue and general ledger accounting and design and lead a best in class team and month end close process, including reducing time close while mitigating risk, formal review process and timely completion of account reconciliations. 

To be successful in this position, the candidate must be curious to resolve breakdowns in the process at their root cause and work collaboratively to scale the operation and continuously improve the process. The candidate must also be an effective communicator and be able to influence cross-functional leadership. 

Your Daily Adventures

  • Manage, mentor and develop team, including regular check-in sessions, goal setting and periodic formal reviews to support career growth 
  • Review and accurately record transactions into the general ledger, including understanding system limitations and required GAAP adjustments
  • Lead the month-end close process and drive efficiencies to reduce the overall timeline, including regular check-in sessions, communication to Accounting and Finance function on progress and formal review meetings
  • Provide monthly reporting package to upper management, including p&l and balance sheet variance analysis, statement of cash flows and other key metrics
  • Review and complete account reconciliations monthly and ensure any adjustments are booked timely 
  • Draft and document technical accounting matters via memo as necessary 
  • Review and record SaaS revenue entries, including subscription and professional services transactions under ASC 606 
  • Record and review stock-based compensation, including employee and non-employee options under ASC 718
  • Implement new leasing accounting under ASC 842 and identify proper tool for the Company to utilize for recurring transactions
  • Review foreign currency transactions and gain/loss under ASC 830
  • Prepare Statement of Cash Flows under ASC 230 and Equity Roll forward 
  • Review subsidiary accounting under both US GAAP and IFRS including working with third-party accountants and leading stat audits as necessary 
  • Drive annual audit with external auditor including managing deliverables and addressing any items raised to drive an efficient audit
  • Identify, implement, perform and document internal controls with a goal towards Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 
  • Identify and communicate any issues proactively with upper management 
  • Develop and document formal policies and procedures in compliance with SEC and public company reporting standards
  • Work cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, Revenue Operations, IT, Sales and other functions
  • Maintain and enhance an environment of accountability and professionalism 
  • Clearly define expectations to the team and to management to create and maintain a highly functional team
  • Consistent and regular process improvement

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Accounting experience, preferably in a high growth SaaS company
  • Big 4 or public accounting experience
  • CPA or equivalent 
  • Prior supervisorial experience 
  • Knowledge of Zuora, NetSuite, Concur, FloQast, and Financial Force a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Able to deal with direct feedback 
  • Successful in building cross-departmental relationships 
  • Acts accountable and continuously seeks improvement 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
