Shiftboard is looking for an accounting manager responsible for accounting and billing operations, and all areas of financial reporting. The accounting manager’s responsibilities will include both detailed, day-to-day functions and strategic services including: billing customers, accounts payable, collections, journal entries, preparing financial models and budgets, financial strategy, financial reporting, metric reporting and forecasting. The accounting manager will report to the Senior Director of Finance. This is a unique opportunity to be a early participant in helping the company grow and be part of a dynamic, fast-growing SaaS company and to make a direct impact in the company’s finance department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting operations, including accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Perform all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance and balance sheet reconciliations using QuickBooks online
  • Manage all billing operations, including maintaining billing system and process
  • Accounts receivable’s management including pro-active, aggressive support to collections activities
  • Prepare month-end and year-end financial statement, business metrics reports and Board of Directors reports
  • Follow and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
  • Oversee external annual audit and tax return filing
  • As the Company grows, recruit and manage accounting staff
  • Work with the Senior Finance Director to develop annual budgeting and periodic financial forecasting process
  • Interface and assist employees in other departments especially sales, customer success, marketing and HR.
  • Assist in developing ways to continually define, improve and streamline accounting processes and procedures
  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Previous experience as a senior accountant, accounting supervisor, or manager
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel) and QuickBooks
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness and enjoyment in being both a “hand’s-on doer” and key employee helping the Company grow and mature

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA preferred
  • Experience in, or knowledge of, SaaS software businesses
  • Experience with venture capital investors a plus
  • Salesforce reporting experience
