Position Summary:

Trupanion is looking for an experienced, collaborative, and creative AP Manager to join the Financial Operations Team! As a critical member of a rapidly diversifying public company, this individual will support the full AP cycle and billing processes from supervising the daily operations, enhancing the business process by driving improvements and efficiencies, and developing a growing team. This is a hands-on position that requires the right candidate who is willing to dig into the details and still capable of maintaining a 20k-foot view to support their team from processing invoices to implementing new tools. Other requirements include effective communication skills, the ability navigate gray-areas, and process enhancement/building.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop, train, and mentor a team of three.
  • Oversee accounting operational functions including, but not limited to: AP, stoppays, manual premium, and goodwill refunds, positive pay, etc.
  • Ensure prompt vendor payments, payment applications, and remittances.
  • Develop our cash forecasting procedures to provide increased visibility into corporate expenditures and cash collections.
  • Work with the corporate accounting team to ensure accurate monthly member account reconciliations and accruals.
  • Oversee our 1099 and Unclaimed Property filings and processes.
  • Collaborate to buildout and enhance our partner payment and commission payment processes.
  • Ensure all AP and operational processes adhere to US GAAP and are SOX compliant.
  • Prepare supporting documents for reporting, quarterly reviews, and/or year-end audits, as needed.
  • Collaborate and communicate cross-functionally with leaders across the business to ensure strong support of daily and strategic operations.
  • Other ad hoc related tasks and projects as needed to support our 5-year strategic plan and vital growth initiatives.

Qualifications (Please include a cover letter with your application!)

Education & Certifications:

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, preferred, but not required
  • CPA preferred, but not required

Experience & Skills:

  • 5-7 years of AP/AR experience, including 3+ years in leadership roles, desired
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, required
  • Ability to creatively problem-solve and drive process improvements, required
  • Exposure to a fast-paced and dynamic environment, desired
  • Experience with MS Dynamics Great Plains or a Tier 1 ERP system, desired
  • Experience utilizing Concur, Worldpay, and/or Zuora, desired
